Chris Durrant
Consultant Solicitor
Chris worked in industry for seven years before becoming a lawyer, three of them running a factory in France. He qualified as a solicitor in 1978, and is now a widely experienced company and commercial lawyer with special expertise in mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, competition law, banking and corporate recovery, commercial contracts, and the corporate aspects of leasehold enfranchisement projects.
Chris deals with the formation, acquisition, disposal and restructuring of companies, partnerships and businesses, and the acquisition, disposal, exploitation and licensing of portfolios of intellectual property. He has long experience of most areas traditionally regarded as within the province of commercial law, such as the supply of goods and services, agency and distribution, trade and asset finance, and the carriage and warehousing of goods. He has particularly good quality experience in logistics and IT services contracts (especially outsourcing issues).
Chris has enjoyed long and constructive relationships with the senior management of several substantial companies, who valued his wide commercial experience and practical approach. He was for some years client partner for a leading premiership football club.
Chris has an M.Phil degree in European competition law and has good practical experience in that field. He was co-author with Professor David Milman of Lancaster University of a book on corporate insolvency and was a tutor in company law and practice for the Open University between 2006 and 2011.
